2010 was a year to be remembered! Not only did I (somehow) write 2 books, I also learned about areas I never thought would be of interest, namely self-publishing and website creation. Needless to say, I remain a novice on both of these fronts and so many more. As I delve deeper into business creation, I find it to be one step forward, two steps back. Every helpful tidbit I uncover leads to 10 more leads to research. Ugh…
With the onslaught of a new year, my approach is two-fold: simplification and expansion. I can hear you laughing already. Yes, I know the two are counter-intuitive, but I’m always up for a challenge. In reality, it’s doable; I just need to streamline certain areas and remain more focused than in the past. You see, 2010 was such a year of facing my fears and experimenting that I didn’t have the ability to maximize anything. Much of the time (when I wasn’t writing) was spent on research and learning, more specifically how to create covers, format interior content, establish web and social media presence, formulate e-book and kindle versions, and self-promote locally and on-line. My work is not over as I still need to do all of it better and for less money. I intend to capitalize on what I know now and better target what I need to learn. How to do it? Hmm … improved schedules, limited distractions, and prioritization might be the key. (I’ll keep you posted on how it all pans out…:-).
It’s been a miraculous year. Now, onto the next! 2011 holds great promise; that is, if I’m willing to do the work. And I am! There will be business models to explore, on-line ventures to establish, and (hopefully) another book to write.
Welcome 2011…I’ve been waiting for You!
