what a week ~ 3/16/2010

Wow am I ever behind! The last week has been a whirlwind of activity, and I’m still digging myself out of the rubble.

I am beyond excited to announce that Still Life is finally available for sale via my eStore and on Amazon. Check out the Still Life Page here on LaPalm Books to order your own copy. It’s surreal (and a bit sad) to realize the book is actually in print for those who wish to read it. I’ve learned so much from the process, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

However, we are not parting ways just yet – there is still much legwork to be completed in terms of its marketing. I need to get the word out, compile prospect lists, create sales materials, perform data storage, and hit the proverbial streets in an attempt to reach as many readers as possible. It’ll be a long road ahead, but I accept the challenge in hopes of building on what I’ve started and learning even more along the way.

As I reflect back on the journey of my first self-publishing experience, I also look forward to the next phase. The demands of Still Life and home (sick kid, too many appointments, overnight guests, volunteering, etc.) have stopped my initial re-write of the pending novel. I hope to wrap up home-life details today in order to spend the rest of the week exclusively on re-working the draft into readable copy. I *really* hope it goes smoothly (for once), because I’m ready for a change of scenery – that being the North Dakota farm country of the work in progress :)!

As always I plan to keep you posted and if things go well, I may have an excerpt on-line in the next month or so. Wish me luck (and time)!
